N.J. Woman Sentenced for Stealing $14,000 From Company
New Jersey’s Attorney General Peter Harvey announced that a Somerset County woman has been sentenced in Morris County Superior Court for reportedly stealing more than $14,000 from her former insurance company employer.
According to Vaughn McKoy, Director, Division of Criminal Justice and Insurance Fraud Prosecutor Greta Gooden Brown, Tara Mack, 31, of Somerset County, was sentenced to 18 months probation, 75 hours community service, and ordered to pay restitution to the Prudential Insurance Company.
Insurance Fraud Prosecutor Brown noted that Mack pled guilty to a criminal Accusation which charged one count of theft (3rd degree). At the guilty plea hearing on May 13 before Morris County Superior Court Judge Salem Ahto, Mack reportedly admitted that between February and April, 2001, to stealing seven Prudential depositor checks totaling more than $14,135 and depositing the stolen funds into a personal business account controlled by another person.
At the time of the theft, Mack was employed as a financial support technician at the Prudential Insurance Company’s Parsippany Office.
