PMA to Expand Pittsburgh Operations

August 15, 2003

The PMA® Insurance Group, a regional property and casualty organization specializing in workers’ compensation and disability insurance, announced that it has relocated its Pittsburgh Branch Office to accommodate the increased business activities in the western Pennsylvania area.

The office is now located at Two Chatham Center, Suite 600 in Pittsburgh, which provides PMA with an additional 1,500 square feet of space. The company, which is the largest private writer of workers’ compensation in Pennsylvania, has been experiencing rapid growth.

“PMA has doubled the volume of business in western Pennsylvania and the surrounding areas during the past five years,” stated Jeff Swaney, VP of PMA’s Pittsburgh Branch. “Our success is due to PMA’s increased visibility in the Pittsburgh market, strong relationships with clients, brokers and agents, and a robust demand by the Pittsburgh employers for PMA’s products and services.” He also stressed that the market has been very receptive to PMA’s way of doing business, which is based upon a strong local presence, ease of doing business, high standards of performance and exceptional claims and risk management services.

Swaney indicated that he expects continued growth for PMA’s Pittsburgh operation, which currently employs 51 insurance professionals. “The Pittsburgh market is a key part of The PMA Insurance Group’s strategic plans for growth and expansion. The Pittsburgh area contains many employers who are seeking high-quality risk management products and services, an excellent match for PMA.” PMA’s current Pittsburgh clients include manufacturers, health care systems, hotels, service and retail operations, and wholesale distributors.
