UnumProvident to Handle Claims Management for Va. Retirement System
UnumProvident Corporation announced the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) has selected UnumProvident as its third-party administrator for the Virginia Sickness and Disability Program which covers about 63,000 Commonwealth of Virginia employees.
Under the agreement, UnumProvident will provide claims management services for short-term and long-term disability coverage effective Jan. 1, 2004.
W. Forrest Matthews, Jr., Director of the $35 billion retirement system said, “UnumProvident’s clinical resources, localized service and advanced reporting capabilities are very impressive. We look forward to partnering with UnumProvident to provide members covered under the short-term and long- term program with the highest level of customer service.”

In addition, UnumProvident is providing VRS with customer reporting analysis capability, as well as Return-to-Work development services that will reportedly help VRS enhance their absence management and return-to-work policies and procedures.
