Berkeley Township Given Award by N.J. Municipal Joint Insurance Fund
The New Jersey Township of Berkeley has been presented with a Special Recognition Award for the Most Improved Safety Record by the Garden State Municipal Joint Insurance Fund (GSMJIF).
In a ceremony held at the Township’s municipal offices, Earl Miller, Executive Director of the Fund, presented the award to Mayor Jason Varano. “The GSMJIF can only succeed with the help of its members”, Miller stated, “and this award is in appreciation of the work done by Berkeley in contributing to the overall success of the Fund.”
Mayor Varano commented, “We are honored that Berkeley has been recognized for its contributions to keeping GSMJIF claims costs down. We take pride in the work that was done to improve our safety record and we will continue to look for ways to enhance our safety management program and save money for the people of Berkeley Township.”
The bulletin noted that the “GSMJIF is one of the largest joint insurance funds in New Jersey, whose nine member towns comprise over 325,000 taxpayers. A joint insurance fund (JIF) affords public entities the ability to achieve economies of scale and purchasing leverage, enabling them to obtain coverage at a lower cost than if purchased through the traditional commercial insurance market.”
