Maryland’s IWIF Offering Free Young Workers Safety Kit to Employers

June 17, 2005

In recognition of IWIF’s Safety Saves Week, which runs June 19-25, Maryland’s IWIF has created a young worker safety kit for employers.

Called Safety Rules, the free kit contains information and tools employers of young workers ages 16-24 can use to promote workplace safety among young employees. Specifically, the kit contains tip sheets and flyers for both employers and their young workers, brochures, posters, paycheck stuffers, a worker orientation checklist, and a copy of the federal government’s Pocket Guide on Youth Employment.

The kit will be distributed to IWIF’s 2,500 largest policyholders and Maryland’s top independent insurance agents. The complete kit is currently available for order on IWIF’s Web site at www.iwif.com, or by calling IWIF’s Loss Control department at 1-800-264-IWIF, ext. 2165.

According to IWIF, in 2004 15 percent of claims filed with the company were from workers ages 24 and younger.
