Main Street Group Contributes to Virginia Big ‘I’ Building Fund
The Independent Insurance Agents of Virginia (IIAV) is thanking The Main Street America Group for contributing $50,000 to the building fund for development of the new IIAV Insurance Career Institute in Richmond.
“As independent agents are our sole distribution channel for all of our products and services, we need to invest in their future,” said Tom Van Berkel, president and CEO of The Main Street America Group, during a check presentation to IIAV president-elect Mike Funkhouser.
The IIAV Insurance Career Institute is scheduled to conduct its first class this summer. Initially, the Institute will train individuals for the customer service representative career track. Once this program is up and running, IIAV has plans to implement a program to train insurance agency producers.
“Bricks and mortar are the easy part of our plans to encourage high school students and career changers to consider the independent insurance agency as a potential career,” noted Funkhouser, president of the Haun Magruder Insurance Agency in Woodstock, Va. “We are well on our way with this program, but we certainly appreciate the commitment from our company partners who are dedicated to our industry such as The Main Street America Group.”
