OSHA, Police Probing Pa. Gas Drilling Accident
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is still investigating a gas drilling accident that killed one man and injured another in Greene County.
State police say 26-year-old Rock Doman of Carmichaels died of massive blunt force trauma while capping the well in Jefferson Township on Monday.
Doman worked for Gene D. Yost & Son, a drilling company hired by Atlas Energy Resources of Moon Township. Atlas had leased the drilling rights from the owners of a farm where the well was located.
Another worker, 25-year-old Jerry Fisher Jr. of Dilliner was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, W.Va. where he was in stable condition.
Authorities say pressure in the well caused the capping system to give way.
