Second Fire within Year Damages Upscale Maine Resort
The Maine fire marshal’s office is investigating a fire at the upscale Stage Neck Inn in York a year after another fire damaged the oceanfront resort hotel.
York Village Fire Chief Chris Balentine estimated the damage from last week’s fire at $200,000. He said the blaze started in an attached storage shed on the side of the building, but that quick work by firefighters contained the fire to a function room.
The resort was set to open the next day after a planned two-week closure.
The fire was similar to one last February that broke out in the inn’s laundry room a day after the hotel opened after being closed from several months for renovations.
Damage at that time was estimated at $300,000.
