Brazilian Citizen Gets 2 Years for Insurance Fraud in N.H.
A Brazilian citizen has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty in a fraud that saw insurance companies pay out more than $150,000 in false claims.
Thirty-one-year-old Marcelo Moraes was sentenced in federal court in Concord (New Hampshire).
Officials say he pleaded guilty to crimes including mail fraud, having fake IDs, fraudulently using Social Security numbers and using a counterfeit credit card.
Moraes admitted he used different aliases when submitting insurance claims for fictitious or staged car accidents, thefts and vandalism. He’ll be deported when he gets out of prison.
