SUV Runs Amok in Pa. Cemetery
A northeast Philadelphia cemetery is surveying damage to more than 25 headstones toppled and damaged by an out-of-control sport-utility vehicle.
Police say the vehicle roared hundreds of feet through the Greenmount Cemetery in the Hunting Park section Wednesday night before coming to a stop.
Chief Inspector Scott Small says the man and two women in the SUV had no business in the cemetery, “and unfortunately for them, their vehicle lost control and did a lot of damage.”
Cemetery officials say the damage tops $100,000.
Police say the female driver, whose name wasn’t released, appeared impaired and was undergoing blood tests.
