Atlantic City Pols Suing Over Lawsuit Settlement Advice
The winner of Atlantic City’s Democratic mayoral primary and the incumbent City Council president are suing their former lawyers over advice about a controversial lawsuit settlement.
Former mayor Lorenzo Langford, who won Tuesday’s primary, and Council President William Marsh accuse their former attorneys of negligence in handling the suit the pair brought over the loss of their jobs in 1999.
The $850,000 settlement was thrown out by the state Supreme Court, which found it was rife with conflicts of interest. The settlement was approved while Langford was in office as mayor.
Lawyers for the men’s former attorneys say the claim is baseless and are trying to have it thrown out.
