Worker Injured in New Jersey Factory Explosion
State Police say a factory worker has been seriously injured after an explosion at a New Jersey plastics processing plant.
State Police Sgt. Stephen Jones says seven workers were inside ICO Polymers in Bethlehem Township when a piece of machinery exploded at about 6 a.m. Saturday.
Six were able to get out, but the remaining worker had serious burns on his arms and had to be airlifted to St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston.
Jones said the injuries aren’t life-threatening.
Jones said electrical concerns kept firefighters from immediately putting out the fire. The fire was knocked down by 9:30 a.m. and the building was shut down.
The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
