Man Sentenced for Setting Maryland Fire
Federal authorities say a Cockeysville man has been sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison for setting a house fire for a homeowner who fell behind on his mortgage payments.
Thirty-two-year-old Scott Ensor pleaded guilty to an arson conspiracy charged for setting the fire Jan. 29 at a home in Owings Mills belonging to 41-year-old Keith McMahon. The U.S. Attorney’s office says Ensor admitted that McMahon offered him $10,000 to burn down the house so he could collect insurance benefits.
A Baltimore County firefighter was injured while battling the fire.
McMahon pleaded guilty to an arson charge in July. Under the plea agreement, he will face a sentence of seven years in prison when he is sentenced Oct. 10.
