Conveyor Worker Killed in Pennsylvania Quarry Accident
The federal Mine Safety and Health Administration is investigating an accident that killed a 56-year-old employee at a central Pennsylvania quarry.
Authorities didn’t immediately identify the victim but say he was a 20-year employee of the Pennsy Supply quarry in South Hanover Township.
Pennsy Supply general manager Barry Duffy says the man was working on a conveyor Tuesday when there was a collapse and he was partially buried by falling rocks.
South Hanover Fire Chief Richard Slusser says emergency workers gave the man oxygen and spoke with him but he died before rescuers could free him from the fallen rock.
