Maryland Recycling Truck Worker Dies While Collecting Paper
Montgomery County police say they are investigating the death of a recycling disposal worker who was crushed inside the truck he worked on.
Police say they received a report around 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from the driver of the truck who said the victim was caught in the truck compactor while they collected paper in the Aspen Hill area. Detective Patrick McNerney says the driver of the truck tried to help 26-year-old Juan Antonio Rosales-Lopez of Rockville, when he was caught in the mechanism after he reached into the chute to clear it.
Officials of the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health Act were called to determine whether unsafe work practices were a factor.
Police say the death of the Potomac Disposal Company employee was an accident.
