New York Woman Charged with $31K Workers’ Comp Fraud
A New York woman has been charged with fraud and perjury after authorities say she lied in order to claim more than $31,000 in workers’ compensation benefits.
Tara Horton, 27, of Cortland, had claimed she was unable to work or attend school following an April 2006 back injury she suffered while employed as a home health aide. Authorities later learned she was attending school full-time.
She was released pending a hearing to be scheduled in Onondaga County Court.
