Insurer Closing Claims Office in Maine
Insurance giant Allstate Corp. is closing its claims office in South Portland, a move that affects 55 people.
Company spokesman Mike Siemienas said Wednesday the shutdown will take place by July 31 and is part of a consolidation of claims offices.
Siemienas told the Portland Press Herald that affected employees can apply for jobs elsewhere and may be eligible for relocation assistance.
He said customers should notice no change because field adjustors who physically inspect autos and property do not work in the office.
