New York Roofer to Repay $178K in Workers’ Comp Premiums
A New York roofing firm that used an off-the-books payroll has pleaded guilty to workers’ comp fraud and will repay $178,000 to the New York State Insurance Fund, the fund said.
The company, Art Roofing, Inc., and its owner, Arjan Coku, entered the guilty pleas last week
Prosecutors said the case is part of an ongoing investigation by the District Attorney’s office into companies that use off the books payrolls, which allow companies to cheat on insurance premiums.
Art Roofing had allegedly under-reported its payroll by $454,130 from 2001 to 2007.
