Maine Records Safe Year for Drivers
The state Bureau of Highway Safety says 2008 was the safest year on Maine roads in 50 years, and this year is turning out to be even safer.
The bureau reports 58 people have died on Maine roads so far this year, compared to 74 deaths at this time in 2008. Last year ended with 155 highway deaths, the safest year since 1959.
