Ex-Professor Sues University of New Hampshire over Sex Harassment
A former University of New Hampshire marketing professor has sued the school and the university system, saying they ignored her sexual harassment complaints against a supervisor and fired her in retaliation in 2006.
Amy Kallianpur filed her lawsuit in federal court last week after an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission investigation found a violation of job discrimination protections, the Concord Monitor reported.
It said UNH’s own investigation showed then-marketing department chairman Charles Gross “made biased and sexually offensive comments about women, which calls into question his objectivity in making reappointment decisions.”
UNH lawyer Ronald Rodgers said the commission’s report didn’t conclude UNH had done anything wrong.
Gross, who isn’t a defendant, retired this year. He referred comment to his lawyer, Lawrence Gormley, who said he hadn’t seen the lawsuit.
