High Winds Dislodge Panels off Penn State Scoreboard
High winds caused some panels from a scoreboard under renovation at Penn State’s Beaver Stadium to dislodge and blow out of the facility.
The university said no one was hurt. At least one car was damaged in a parking lot, and the school shut down two nearby roads as a precaution.
Workers are installing new panels on the scoreboard. There was no work Wednesday due to a wind advisory, though part of the scoreboard was left open because of the ongoing work.
Penn State closed nearby roads before noon after getting damage reports. The National Weather Service reported gusts of up to 39 mph in State College late Wednesday morning.
A team spokesman says there should be no problems for No. 14 Penn State’s next game Saturday.
