Feds Probe Plane Crash in Northwest Pennsylvania
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the crash landing of a small plane near Meadville in northwestern Pennsylvania.
Vernon Township police say the pilot, John Bouley, of Tolland, Conn., walked away from the crash Tuesday morning and was treated for minor injuries at Meadville Medical Center.
Police say the four-seat Piper Cherokee crashed just before 10 a.m. near some softball fields in Vernon Township, about 80 miles north of Pittsburgh.
Police Chief Randall Detzel says it appears the pilot may have been trying to land on an abandoned air strip about 150 yards away.
It was not immediately clear if the plane ran out of fuel or had other problems.
