New Hampshire Man Facing 20 Years for Yarmouth Business Fires
A 30-year-old New Hampshire man is facing up to 20 years in federal prison when he is sentenced on charges he set a fire in Yarmouth, Maine that destroyed 26 businesses.
Everett Stickney of Exeter is due in federal court in Portland on Thursday.
Stickney pleaded guilty in June to arson and firearms charges.
Investigators say Stickney set a Jan. 2 fire that destroyed a three-story commercial building on Route 1, displacing 26 businesses. Damage was estimated at between $2 million and $4 million.
Another fire was set in York the next day.
The fires were investigated by local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
The Portland Press Herald says Stickney waived his right to appeal the sentence if it is seven years or less.
