OSHA Proposes $70K Fine for Pittsburgh Fatal Fall
A Pennsylvania construction company has been cited by federal investigators after a worker fell 225 feet to his death.
The Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration says Mariani & Richards Inc. failed to protect workers from falls on a construction site in downtown Pittsburgh.
As a result of the OSHA investigation in August 2009, the company has been cited with one willful violation and a proposed $70,000 fine.
OSHA says Mariani & Richards was cited for the same violation in November 2007 but didn’t take steps to remedy the situation.
The company has 15 days to comply, request a conference with OSHA officials, or contest the ruling and fine.
A message left for the company was not immediately returned.
