Tornado Confirmed in Central Pennsylvania Storm
The National Weather Service says it has confirmed the presence of a low-level tornado during the severe weather that swept through parts of central Pennsylvania.
Meteorologists say the EF-0 tornado with winds up to 80 mph touched down briefly at the Thousand Trails Campground in South Annville Township in Lebanon County at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. Trees were toppled all over the campground, and one fell on a cabin while people were inside, but no injuries were reported.
Officials say the tornado was part of a march larger area of straight line winds that caused damage in Lebanon and Dauphin counties. They say damage consisted mostly of downed trees and power lines, but the roof was torn off a Derry Township home and a farmhouse in South Annville Township also had part of the roof blown off.
