Providence July 4 Fires Appear to Be Arson
Authorities believe some of the fires in a string of blazes in Providence over the holiday weekend are connected and appear to have been deliberately set.
Firefighters responded to five fires over a few hours late Saturday night and into Sunday morning.
Officials said at least three of the fires appear to be linked and they are believed to be arson.
Some of the fires were in vacant homes and no one was hurt.
Battalion Chief Alan Horton told WPRI-TV that some of the fires were started in a similar manner. He said someone dragged trash to the side of the homes, set fire to the trash, which then ignited the siding.
There have been no arrests.
