Fire Damages Ethan Allen Furniture Plant in Vermont
A fire has damaged part of an Ethan Allen furniture mill in Vermont. No injuries have been reported.
The fire broke out Tuesday afternoon after an explosion in the system that vacuums sawdust throughout the mill in Orleans.
Firefighters say the majority of the flames were contained within an hour but they continued to battle hot spots in an outer wall and the roof area before leaving the scene about five hours later.
The head of the mill’s maintenance department says his crew will work on repairs and most of the plant will be back in operation Wednesday. The plant is one of the area’s biggest employers.
The cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.
