Queens Contractor Arrested for Workers’ Comp Fraud
The New York State Insurance Fund said a Queens contractor who allegedly defrauded the workers’ comp insurer of more than $150,000 in uncollected premium has been arrested.
Queens contractor on grand larceny and workers’ compensation fraud charges for allegedly defrauding New York State Insurance Fund, as well as several related felony charges for falsifying business records and insurance fraud.
Konstantinos Missirlakis, owner of J&V General Contracting Corp., faces grand larceny and workers’ compensation fraud charges, following an investigation by the NYSIF and the New York State Insurance Department Frauds Bureau.
Investigators said Mr. Missirlakis allegedly under reported his company’s payroll to avoid paying correct premium to NYSIF for workers’ compensation insurance. Investigators estimated the amount of alleged fraud at more than $156,649.
