D.C. Construction Worker Injured in Fall, Rescued
Authorities say a 62-year-old worker has been injured after he fell into a hole at a construction site on the U.S. Supreme Court property in northeast Washington.
D.C. fire and EMS spokesman Pete Piringer says the man was digging a trench and when he went to look at the hole, he fell 25 to 35 feet Friday morning. Piringer says crews used a harness and other equipment to hoist the man.
Piringer says the worker’s injuries to his neck, back and lower leg were serious, but not life-threatening. The man was taken to a hospital.
Police closed off some nearby streets during the rescue.
