Cafeteria Manager Sues Baltimore Schools for $300K
A former Baltimore high school cafeteria manager is suing the city school system for $300,000.
Attorneys for Bessie Miller say she was denied her due-process rights when school officials suspended her without pay and threatened to fire her while investigating whether she and another employee had stolen school money.
Miller had worked in the school system for 12 years when officials noticed a $995 discrepancy in school cafeteria funds.
Her attorney says she wasn’t allowed to defend herself or clear her name after officials determined she had not stolen from Frederick Douglass High School.
School system officials declined to comment since the lawsuit is still pending.
