Connecticut Arson Cop Charged in Car Fire Conspiracy

The top arson investigator in Connecticut’s largest city has been arrested in alleged fire-for-hire plot to burn her car for the insurance money.

Veteran Bridgeport police Detective Kimberly Biehn is facing charges of conspiracy to commit first-degree arson, fraud and insurance fraud. She posted bail and her lawyer, John Gulash, declined to comment on the allegations.

Waterbury police say Biehn reported her 2003 Mercedes Benz sedan missing in Bridgeport in December 2008 and it was found burning in Waterbury. Police say she owed $17,000 on the car and was compensated by her insurance company.

Biehn is also suspended without pay while city officials investigate.

Police say the man accused of setting the car on fire is also facing an arson charge.
