Two Killed as Combine Strikes Power Lines on New Jersey Farm
New Jersey State Police say a farm machine struck overhead power lines and caught fire, killing two workers and injuring a third.
Sgt. Julian Castellanos says a chute on a combine the men were operating snagged high-tension wires at about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday on a South Jersey farm.
Castellanos says a 69-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man died at South Jersey Healthcare’s Elmer Hospital.
A third man was flown to Crozer Chester Medical Center in Chester, Pa. His condition was not immediately available.
The farm is located in Upper Pittsgrove Township, Salem County, about 30 miles south of Philadelphia.
State police and fire officials are investigating.
