Small Fire at Pennsylvania Cathedral Ruled Arson
Officials say the fire that damaged a northeastern Pennsylvania cathedral’s confessional was set intentionally.
Monday’s fire didn’t cause much damage at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Scranton. But church officials say the building also sustained some water and smoke damage.
Scranton Diocese spokesman Bill Genello says the cathedral could be closed for a couple days but will reopen in time for Mass on Christmas Eve.
Scranton police are investigating the fire as a case of arson.
