Pennsylvania Chiropractor Sentenced in Insurance Scam
A suburban Philadelphia chiropractor has been sentenced to three year in federal prison in a nearly $2 million insurance fraud case.
Prosecutors say 50-year-old Joseph Lerner ran a gym and health club in Horsham and encouraged people to join by saying they could receive massages and personal training sessions while being charged a $10 insurance copay.
Authorities say Lerner falsified patient symptoms and findings in documents submitted to insurance companies, netting more than $1.9 million between 2007 and last year.
Lerner was also ordered to pay restitution at Wednesday’s sentencing.
