New York Ex-Lawmaker Gets Prison in Insurance Fraud Case
A former New York lawmaker will spend at least four years in prison following his conviction in a Hamptons insurance fraud case.
George Guldi was sentenced Monday in Suffolk County Court in Riverhead to three to nine years for grand larceny and one to three years on insurance fraud. The sentences will run consecutively.
Prosecutors say Guldi pocketed $853,000 in insurance money. The house was not rebuilt after a 2008 fire.
Guldi was convicted last month of grand larceny and insurance fraud involving his Westhampton Beach home. He was acquitted of a forgery charge.
He plans to appeal.
Guldi was a Suffolk County legislator from 1995 to 2003. He faces another trial in a separate mortgage fraud case.
