Massachusetts Family Overcome by Carbon Monoxide
Four members of a Cape Cod family are being treated for symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Eastham Fire Captain Steve Burns says a husband and wife and their two sons were rushed from their home to Cape Cod Hospital shortly after 6 a.m. on Monday. All four are expected to recover.
Burns says there was a carbon monoxide detector in the home, but it had no batteries.
Investigators say a coal-burning heater was the source of the carbon monoxide.
The incident comes two days after 11 people were taken to hospitals after being overcome by carbon monoxide at a home on Nantucket.
