Flood-damaged Vermont Fire Station gets FEMA Look
A Vermont fire station that covers parts of two states and Canada is among the properties that have suffered damages in spring flooding.
The Beecher Falls Fire Station, located in the northeastern corner of Vermont, was inundated April 27 when Hall Stream overflowed, flooding the station with 4 feet of water that damaged records and destroyed equipment. It’s the second time in 13 years that the station – which serves parts of New Hampshire and Quebec – has been flooded.
On Wednesday, Federal Emergency Management Agency representative Jeanne Gallagher, accompanied by state Public Safety Commissioner Keith Flynn, got a tour of the damage.
Deputy Public Safety Commissioner John Wood tells the Caledonian-Record the state hopes to get funding from FEMA to move the station to higher ground.
