Collapse at Maryland Casino Construction Site Kills 1
Anne Arundel County officials say one construction worker was killed and another was injured when a 30-foot wall collapsed at the site of a casino being built at Arundel Mills Mall.
Rescue workers were called to the site of the Maryland Live! Casino near the mall in Hanover about 10 a.m. Friday. Police say one worker, 27-year-old Leon Ray Sax of Hanover, Pa., was pronounced dead at the scene. The other worker, 25-year-old Darbin Suazo-Jimenez of Manassas, Va. was taken to Shock Trauma with life-threatening injuries.
County officials say an investigation is being conducted by Maryland Occupational Safety and Health.
It was the second accident at the site this month. A worker was injured July 5 when a chunk of concrete fell on him.
