Driver Rescued from Car that Landed in Maryland Pool
Howard County authorities rescued a woman trapped in her car after it landed in her pool.
Relatives called authorities Saturday to check on the woman in her 70s after they didn’t hear from her Friday night. Rescuers found the woman in fair condition – conscious but disoriented – in the backyard pool with water up to her chest on Saturday morning. During an hours-long rescue effort, they used ladders and rope rigging systems and eventually cut the top off the car to remove the woman.
Fire and Rescue Services Battalion Chief Eric Proctor says the car traveled down a steep 100-foot embankment from a drive-through carport. He says it’s not clear what caused the woman to lose control of her car.
