New Hampshire Medical Malpractice Suit Going to Mediation
The parties involved in a medical malpractice suit brought by the family of a Massachusetts woman who died at Lakes Region General Hospital in Laconia, N.H. have agreed to attempt to negotiate an out-of-court settlement through mediation.
Lawyers for both sides appeared in Belknap County Superior Court earlier this week.
The suit was filed by Michael Notarangeli of North Reading, Mass., executor of the estate of 72-year-old Elaine Notarangeli, who died in November 1990 at the Laconia hospital. The family claims in the suit that a delay in diagnosis and treatment of a necrotic bowel caused her death. Several doctors and the hospital are named as defendants. They have denied the allegations.
If the parties are unable to settle, the case is slated to go to trial in 2013.
