Atlantic City, New Jersey To Bill For Fire Calls
Atlantic City has decided to bill insurance companies for fire department services.
The City Council approved the ordinance Wednesday without setting fees.
Glassboro implemented such a system in 2005.
Fire Chief Ralph Johnson told The Press of Atlantic City the Gloucester County community collected $20,000 last year. That amounts to 5 percent of the $400,000 annual budget for the local fire department, made up of five paid personnel and 30 volunteers.
