Maryland Construction Worker Dies at Site
The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office says a construction worker is dead after he was run over by a piece of equipment near New Market.
Cpl. Scott Blundell says 37-year-old David Garcia was pronounced dead at Shock Trauma in Baltimore shortly before 12:30 p.m. Monday.
Blundell says Garcia was working for New Market-based contractor Harland J. Shoemaker and Son Inc. when he was run over by a skid loader Monday morning at the company’s headquarters.
A skid loader is a relatively small vehicle, such as a Bobcat, that can be fitted with attachments for grading or lifting.
Blundell says the Maryland Occupational Safety and Health agency is investigating the incident as a workplace accident.
