Virginia’s August Earthquake Produces 50 Aftershocks
Virginia has recorded 50 aftershocks since a 5.8-magnitude earthquake rattled the East Coast in August.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch says state and federal records show the aftershocks’ magnitudes have ranged from 1.8 to 4.5.
Ben Munch with the Virginia Department of Emergency Management says the latest aftershock was a 2.1-magnitude temblor at 12:25 a.m. Monday.
The Aug. 23 earthquake’s epicenter was in Mineral. Gov. Bob McDonnell has said 1,404 homes in Louisa County were damaged.
