Fire Damages Connecticut Seniors’ Complex; No Injuries
Fire officials say a blaze in a Connecticut apartment complex for senior citizens caused extensive damage in several apartments, but that no injuries were reported.
The two-alarm fire Sunday at the Windham Falls Estates in Groton was traced to a bathroom in a third-floor apartment, but the tenant was in another part of the building and was not injured.
The Day of New London reports about 142 people live in the complex, where several buildings sustained damage from smoke and water and need repairs before residents can return.
Fire crews also had to douse another small blaze when a resident left the stove on while evacuating because of the larger fire. Its cause remained under investigation later Sunday.
