Young Girl Falls From Ski Lift in Massachusetts
The owner of the Nashoba Valley Ski Area in Westford, Mass., says a 7-year-old girl was taken to a hospital after falling about 17 feet from a chairlift.
Al Fletcher tells The Sun of Lowell the girl was conscious and alert after the fall at about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and did not appear to have any broken bones, although she complained of back pain.
A ski area spokeswoman says the trip to the hospital was precautionary.
The girl apparently lost her balance when she leaned over to wave at friend below just as another girl with her lifted the safety bar to dismount.
The fall came a little over a week after a high school student died after falling from a lift at Ski Ward in Shrewsbury.
