Utility Covers Blown Off in Pennsylvania Blasts
Police say a series of underground explosions prompted a shutdown of electrical service to downtown Erie, Pa.
Officials say no injuries were reported in connection with the rumbling blasts Wednesday night.
Erie Deputy Fire Chief Mike Fahey tells the Erie Times-News two manhole covers were blown off in front of a Gannon University building.
Utility crews shut down power service while gas company crews checked basements for leaks.
Fahey says the explosions apparently were confined to a single utility conduit.
