Cops: Driver’s Blood Alcohol Nearly 5 Times Limit

A Massachusetts man who police say had a blood-alcohol level of nearly five times the legal limit has been charged in Rhode Island with driving under the influence.

Rhode Island state police said Tuesday that 32-year-old Dammon McLaren, of Brockton, Mass., was arrested early Sunday after troopers saw his vehicle weaving and making several erratic lane changes in Providence.

Police say McLaren’s breath was tested for alcohol, and the test showed blood alcohol count readings of .373 and .384. The legal limit is .08. Police also say McLaren was unsteady on his feet, smelled like alcohol, had slurred speech and watery, bloodshot eyes.

Capt. Frank Castellone says McLaren was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and will be arraigned in district court April 6.
