Man Sues Maryland Police Over Fiery Crash That Killed 3
A man who survived a Maryland police chase that ended in a fiery crash with three dead has sued the Montgomery County police department.
The Washington Post reports that a lawsuit seeking more than $10 million in damages was filed on behalf of 18-year-old Reeco Richardson.
Richardson was the front-seat passenger in a Toyota Echo that slammed into a tree, bursting into flames, in the culmination of a police chase at Chevy Chase Circle last month. Officers drove after the vehicle in a high-speed chase after the car had been reported stolen.
Richardson alleges in the suit that a police cruiser rammed the car, causing it to catch fire. Three teenagers died.
A police spokesman says the department believes that no police cruiser ever came into contact with the Echo.
