Vermont Town Working on Road Safety After Accidents
Officials in Brattleboro, Vt., are working with state transportation experts to resolve road safety issues following a number of accidents in which pedestrians were struck.
Members of the town’s Traffic Safety Committee met Thursday with officials from the transportation agency. The town has been making changes around downtown and in some neighborhoods, but the state has to approve any changes made to routes 5, 30, and 9, which are some of the busiest areas.
Brattleboro has had three traffic-related fatalities in the last eight months, and at least six more accidents involving cars and pedestrians.
The Brattleboro Reformer reports many of the crashes have happened along the state-maintained highways, and the town wanted to start a conversation with the state to control traffic.
