Inspector Checks Vermont Wind Project After Rains

An inspector from the Vermont Agency of Natural Resources is trying to determine how well storm-water runoff controls worked at the site of the under-construction wind power project on Lowell Mountain.

Green Mountain Power officials called the storm that passed across much of northern Vermont on Tuesday, including the Lowell and Albany areas where the wind project is being built, massive.

The Caledonian Record reports that state storm water specialist Kevin Burke was on Lowell Mountain on Wednesday checking to see how well the erosion control ditches, ponds and “spreaders” fared in the storm.

Burke said Friday he expects to have a summary of his inspection next week.

GMP spokesman Dave Coriell says some ditches will need to be repaired, but the roads and turbine sites fared well.
